Be sure to check out the other events happening at the Major Graham Mansion, a spectacular antebellum home located in southwestern Virginia’s Wythe County. Located 10 minutes from the I-77 and I-81 junction, take exit 84 off of I 81 and drive south on Major Grahams Road for about 10 minutes. The hardtop turns into a winding dirt road and real time seems to fade away as you pull up to the massive iron gates of this historic Civil War homestead. Originally called “Cedar Run”, the mansion and surrounding hills are now named for Major David Graham, a Civil War hero, and son of the Grahams Forge founder Squire David Graham. Legend has it that Confederate officers actually held secret meetings in a third floor attic room to plot battle strategies against the Yankees. But beware, more than one person has come away experiencing strange phenomenon while being inside the mansion. So make plans to pay us a visit and enjoy one of our History or Ghost Walk tours. But don’t be surprised if you meet Clara, a seven-year-old girl who died from pneumonia in the”classroom”. Or see the image of a nervous bride scratching a message into the windowpane with her diamond ring in the Bridal Room. Our tours feature a collection of local lore, historical facts, family stories, and data collected by the paranormal investigators and local historians. Public Paranormal Investigations are available every weekend in November. Join us for history tours and a Civil War Encampment on November 13th from 1-4 p.m. and Ghost Walk Tours on October 2nd, 16th, and 23rd and November 6th and 13th. (Ghost Walk reservations required.)Do plan to join us for St. Jude’s GrahamFest, our annual summer music festival. For more information visit www.MajorGrahamMansion.com or call 276-284-0006.
