Being scared is an intrinsic part of the Halloween season. Those who enjoy its frights and fears will be delighted to know they’re in the middle of some of Virginia’s most haunted places.

With my photographer friend Jim Scott, I spent 10 weeks researching and exploring 10 places rumored to be riddled with hauntings and paranormal activity. We met with curators, owners, innkeepers and employees of each place, and even spent the night in some cases.

We then ranked locations in relation to their creepy pasts and spine-chilling presents. Last Sunday, we kicked off our Most Haunted Locations of Virginia countdown. Today, we present the second half. Did we witness any paranormal activity? Well, we have a top 10 for a reason.”
